THE PRACTICE

What is Nephrology?

Nephrology is a subspecialty of internal medicine which centers around the treatment, diagnosis, and management of kidney function.  This inclues renal (kidney) replacement therapy like dialysis and kidney transplantation.

Nephrologists are experts in the care and function of your kidneys.  Their education consists of medical school, a residency in internal medicine and an additional multi year fellowhip in the specialty of nephrology.

They are equipped to treat such conditions affecting the kidneys as hypertention, autoimmune diseases, acute kidney injury and electrolyte issues.
